Shipley Nature Center is an oasis nestled in the heart of Huntington Beach’s urban community. Come discover the wonders of this oasis containing southern California’s natural, coastal-chaparral native plant community throughout meandering trails around a fresh-water pond
The Nature Center is open to public walk-in visitors on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays between 9 am and 1 pm During the week, the nature center is only open to scheduled programs (school field trips, registered classes or group volunteers).

The Friends of Shipley Nature Center are pleased to support the City of Huntington Beach with fundraising towards preserving, maintaining and operating Shipley Nature Center within Huntington Central Park – West. Shipley Parking is located at 17851 Goldenwest Street, Huntington Beach. Additional parking is located at the Huntington Central Park West, 6741 Central Park Drive.
Suggested walk-in donation is $3 per person. Donations assist us in keeping the gates open and the habitat safe. Donations are accepted through our account at PayPal.
The Friends of Shipley Nature Center are raising funds to cover functional expenses and ensure that this beautiful natural space can continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.
Shipley Nature Center in partnership with The City of Huntington Beach Water Conservation will have hundreds of California native plants available for purchase. On the day of plant sale, we will set out mostly one-gallon size plants for the coastal, chaparral areas of Orange County. Vermiculture (worm castings) will be available in 10 lb bags.

HB residents who attend will receive a voucher to: Buy a plant – Get one of equal or lesser value. Limit of 5 free plants and one voucher per household. Proof of residency required.
We accept all forms of credit card and app payments, including cash. If you wish, please ask us to assist with delivery of your purchased plants from the nature center to your vehicle.
