Event Description

Turn Your Waste into Life-Naturally

Reducing food waste and recycling food scraps is an effective household-level action to make a difference. Whether you have a yard, apartment, or tiny home, find out what you need to get started.

Learn how easily you can transform your kitchen scraps and backyard cuttings into rich compost for your plants and gardens! Whether you’re just starting your sustainability journey or looking to take your backyard garden to the next level, this event will show you how easy and rewarding composting can be.

What You’ll Learn

Discover two practical methods to reduce household waste and build healthy soil at home:

Vermicomposting

Learn how to compost food scraps using worms! This indoor-friendly method is perfect for small spaces and teaches participants how to:

  • Set up and maintain a worm bin
  • Feed your worms the right materials
  • Harvest and use nutrient-rich worm castings in your garden

Backyard Composting

Get started with traditional composting using yard clippings and organic matter. This portion covers:

  • What can and can’t go in your compost pile
  • How to balance “greens” and “browns”
  • How to speed up decomposition and avoid common mistakes

Why Compost?

  • Be part of a sustainable future—starting in your own home!
